Business

If you run something, let us look at it.

Small commercial coverage for the people we already insure at home. The gaps usually sit between the personal policy and the business one, which is exactly what nobody checks.

Trades, small offices, rental property, and vehicles used for work.

The seam is the problem

A contractor keeps his truck on a personal auto policy. A consultant runs a practice out of a spare room and assumes the homeowners policy covers the equipment. A landlord insures the rental like a house.

None of that is unusual, and none of it is obvious until a claim arrives and the personal policy points at the business exclusion. It is not the insurance company being difficult. Personal policies were never designed to carry commercial activity.

When one agency holds both sides, somebody is actually looking at the join. That is most of the value here.

What we place

The usual shapes.

If yours is not on this list, ask anyway. It is a short conversation either way.

  1. 01

    Trades and contractors

General liability, tools and equipment, the certificates a general contractor will ask you for before you can get on site.

  2. 02

    Small offices and practices

Liability, contents, and the business interruption coverage most owners discover they needed only after a closed week.

  3. 03

    Rental property owners

Landlord policies for a single unit or a small portfolio, written so they sit properly alongside your personal coverage.

  4. 04

    Vehicles used for work

The line between a personal auto policy and a commercial one is where a surprising number of claims get denied. It is worth ten minutes to get right.

  5. 05

    People on the payroll

If you have employees in Massachusetts, workers compensation is not optional. We will make sure it is in place and priced sensibly.

  6. 06

The umbrella over all of it

Commercial liability has limits like everything else, and the same gap sits above them.

Straight answers

About business coverage

Do you write commercial insurance?

Yes, for small commercial risks, and particularly for people whose households we already insure. If what you run is larger or more specialized than we can place well, we will tell you that directly rather than pushing through a policy that does not fit.

My business is small. Do I really need separate coverage?

Almost certainly yes if you have customers, employees, a vehicle used for work, or equipment you could not replace tomorrow. Personal policies exclude business activity, and that exclusion tends to surface at claim time rather than at purchase time.

Can you handle certificates of insurance?

Yes, and quickly. If a job is being held up because somebody needs a certificate, that is the kind of thing a phone call to a person solves in minutes.

Can you look at my business and my house together?

That is generally the best way to do it. The gaps tend to live in the seams between a personal policy and a commercial one, and you cannot see the seams if two different agencies are each holding one side.

The Never-Overpay Review

Bring the business and the house together.

Send both over and we will read them side by side. Most of what we find sits in the space between them.
